Kieran Patrick Designs presents Virtual Reality Sculpting. Using VR I can work with my clients to create a more accurate and pleasing sculpture. I have often needed to discuss aspects of a sculpture with a client but it hasn't always been possible due to time or availability and the explanation has always fallen short of being conveyed accurately. Virtual Reality allows my clients to see what I see in real time and any changes I make or they wish to make can be attended to immediately.
You don't have to be a professional or naturally gifted to be able to create a masterpiece sculpture of your own. With Kieran Patrick Designs using Virtual Reality and 3d printing, you become the Mastermind behind the Masterpiece and in a few short sessions you will have recreated a memory beyond measure.
I began with stone and wood carving and progressed to clay then to resin casts, into extra large foam sculptures coated in styro pray. I have moved onto race horse sculptures in Virtual Reality using Medium, finishing in ZBrush and Blender and then 3d printing the pieces in PLA filament.
I am inspired to create race horse sculptures and people either in motion or expressing emotion so I will tend to look for a reference picture which I find striking not only in its beauty but also in its ferocity or intensity. I think the true identity of a piece of art is best revealed when it reveals a personal reaction which inturn evokes an emotional response from the viewer.
I sculpted this miniature Thylacine with its terrain in Virtual Reality and 3d printed it in PLA+. I painted it in black and white to highlight its place in Australian history. While it is now gone, the Thylacine will never be forgotten. Provided we learn from such a loss we can avoid losing other wonderful species.
